• Enforce DNS-length cap on individual labels early in check_label, short-circuiting contextual-rule processing for oversized input while staying compatible with UTS 46 usage.
• Tidy core helpers: hoist bidi category sets to module-level frozensets (avoiding per-codepoint list construction), simplify length checks, and reuse the shared _unicode_dots_re from idna.core in the codec module.
• Use raise ... from err for proper exception chaining and switch internal string formatting to f-strings.
• Allow flit_core 4.x in the build backend.

There is a problem with two GraalPy jobs that exists already on master:

That workflow is scheduled to run every Wed and Fri against master, but the first time I saw the same errors was in this dependabot PR.

I reran both, but the error is very clearly some kind of recent bitrot.

For a baseline to compare with (to figure out what changed in the environment), this didn't have the errors:

I.e. there is only a very small time window between last successful and first failed runs.
