We make AI understandable, verifiable, and controllable.
The Centre for Credible AI (CCAI) is a research centre at the Warsaw University of Technology dedicated to making artificial intelligence verifiable, explainable, and controllable.
In a world dominated by algorithms that operate like "black boxes" — so complex that even their creators cannot fully explain how or why they make decisions — we specialize in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). We are not just interested in building bigger and faster models. We care about whether they can be understood and improved — because understanding is the foundation of trust, and trust is the prerequisite for progress.
Our work focuses on high-stakes, socially responsible domains — medicine, education, bioinformatics, physics, and the space industry — where prediction alone is not enough, and decisions must be grounded in knowledge that can be trusted.
- Mission — Make AI truly verifiable, explainable, and controllable.
- Vision — Create technology and culture for trustworthy and transparent AI.
- Values — Integrity, Excellence, Impact.
This GitHub organization hosts the open-source output of the Centre — including:
- XAI methods & libraries — attribution algorithms, counterfactual explanation techniques, and tools for model red-teaming, auditing, and validation.
- Benchmarks & datasets — resources for evaluating the trustworthiness of foundation models across text, image, time series, biometric, and medical imaging data.
- Reproducible research — code accompanying our publications in machine learning, bioinformatics, and human-centered AI.
- Auditing & validation tools — practical instruments aligned with the EU AI Act, developed for the scientific community and industry partners.
Our strategic research partner is the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, one of the world's leading organizations for applied research.
The Centre was established in connection with the project "Centre for Credible Artificial Intelligence", funded under the International Research Agendas (MAB FENG) programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, within the European Funds for Modern Economy. The project has received funding of PLN 29,971,105.00 for the period 2025–2029.
