`npm run gitbook-dep` fails

I did git clone, cd to directory, nom install, and then the following:

turi/userguide$ npm run gitbook-dep

> userguide@2.0.0 gitbook-dep /Users/foo/projects/ml/turi/userguide
> gitbook install ./

Installing GitBook 2.6.4

    throw err;
    ^

Error: Cannot find module 'internal/util/types'
    at Function.Module._resolveFilename (module.js:555:15)

Here's what I am running on (MacBook Pro 2017, High Sierra):

turi/userguide$ npm -v
5.6.0
turi/userguide$ uname -a
Darwin foo-MacBook-Pro.local 17.3.0 Darwin Kernel Version 17.3.0: Thu Nov  9 18:09:22 PST 2017; root:xnu-4570.31.3~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64

Caught exactly the same error. Node v9.5.0, High Sierra.
