Investigate potential 'Claude skill' benefits for modelcontextprotocol/registry #1403

Description

@dmitriivasilev-dev

Hi,

A recent KrabArena battle compared "claude skill" against "mcp server," with "claude skill" emerging as the winner in certain contexts. Given that the modelcontextprotocol/registry project appears to implement or heavily interact with an MCP server, as indicated by entrypoints like server and api/, this comparison might be relevant.

Specifically, for a dashboard project like modelcontextprotocol/registry, aspects where "claude skill" excels could potentially offer improvements in areas related to data processing, intelligent query handling, or dynamic content generation, which might currently be managed by the underlying MCP server.

We propose an optional, small-scale investigation to explore if "claude skill" could offer a benefit. This could involve a proof-of-concept branch that integrates a "claude skill" component to handle a specific, isolated task within the dashboard's API, perhaps for a complex search query or data aggregation endpoint. This benchmark comparison details the specific performance aspects where "claude skill" showed an advantage over "mcp server."

This is not a suggestion for a full migration, but rather a focused experiment to understand potential gains in specific scenarios relevant to modelcontextprotocol/registry's functionality.
