FreePBX-ize?

1. Make it a module
2. Make it a module with an ARI plugin
3. Make it a module with a different access method.
4. Don't make it a module but make it freepbx aware.

I think 3 would work best, personally. Just iframe the module page and put the other files in their own other directory.

I like the idea of a module for making things easy to install. I also like the idea of being able to access the list without FreePBX credentials.

Thinking ahead, it could be possible that an admin might use this module to manage a queue, changing priority, transferring callers in/out, that sort of thing. If that day ever comes, FreePBX credentials will be necessary.

The code below brings in all FreePBX settings/functions and also REMOVEs credentials. Very helpful. :-)

Andy, regarding the code above:

1. (noob question) I assume this gets placed so it runs every time, or does it go in an install file and get run once?
2. I also assume that the above code only works on FreePBX 2.9 and newer, iirc there is no freepbx.conf file earlier than that.
3. I assume that it will only remove credentials if FreePBX is handling http security. PIAF uses apache for security, I don't see how the above could override that.

regarding the very fist post, #2 suggestion module+ARI plugin. Can you describe what you mean by that or give me an example of a module that works that way.

I have incorporated the code you posted above for extracting db credentials from freepbx.conf and it works great on FreePBX 2.10 (and I assume on 2.9 tho I can't test at the moment). When I tried my changes on FreePBX 2.8 it doesn't work because there is no freepbx.conf file. Can the same thing be done for amportal.conf or is is more trouble than its worth for maintaining compatibility that far back.

Instead of messing with FreePBX < 2.9 how about this, check for presence of freepbx.conf and if absent give user the ability to edit the conf file manually:

There is a function that you call on reading amportal.conf in FreePBX 2.8 and lower. I will have to look for it. The function doesn't exist in FreePBX 2.9+ so you don't have to worry about it.
