sorting by legality

ive written a few programs handling the information generated by the apk, mostly just adding it all to a database for querying, how would one go about sorting by legality? the fields are available but the best way i can find is simply creating databases hard coded by set, is there a better way to do this?

Hey brother If you’re storing the card data in a database, the best approach is to normalize the legality information instead of hardcoding by set.

Each card includes a "legalities" field format + status, so you can extract this into a separate table like:
"card_id | format | legality".

This allows you to query dynamically, for example:
All cards legal in Standard,All Modern-legal cards without maintaining hardcoded set lists.

This way your system stays flexible and will automatically work for future sets as new data is added.
